Seamus' father David played for Coach Martel in the NCAA DIII College World Series Tournament in Martel's inaugural season at Illinois Wesleyan and from 1988-10.
Major upgrades in IWU's athletic facilities have enabled Martel to successfully recruit high-quality baseball players to his DIII program.
Martel has now successfully guided Illinois Wesleyan Baseball to a National Championship in his seventh appearance in the DIII post-season.
